Remembering Steven Merdinger

We lost a good, loyal and unselfish friend last week, Steven Merdinger. I cannot begin to tell you how sad I am, how sad all of Steven’s industry friends are. Losing him is a big blow to all of us.

The board and members of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) wish to offer their sincere condolences to Steven’s daughter Blake, his grandchildren, and his entire family.

Upon hearing of Steven’s death, I wrote that Steven had a very powerful sense of commitment to our industry and its good reputation, which he showed over and over by devoting time and effort to the work that we do. He regarded us as family, as we regarded him.

WDC President Feriel Zerouki wrote that “Steven epitomized the very essence of the World Diamond Council. He understood that what we do on behalf of our industry is not simply business-driven. We have the capacity to improve people’s’ lives, and that is what he did.”

May his memory be a blessing to his family, friends and colleagues!
