A short introduction to World Diamond Day

By Nicolas Chrétien, Founding Member of the World Diamond Heritage Board

Dear IDMA Members and industry colleagues,

Below, I’ll tell you about an exciting project – initiated by the World Diamond Heritage Board (WDHB) – that we would like to share with you and engage your support for: World Diamond Day.

Going forward, World Diamond Day will be celebrated annually on April 8. Last month, WDHB announced the official opening of the World Diamond Day Supporter Page, marking a key milestone in establishing World Diamond Day as a shared global moment for the natural diamond industry.

World Diamond Day is not a marketing campaign. It is one single day, celebrated worldwide. On April 8, diamond manufacturing and trade organisations, brands, dealers, designers, laboratories, trade media, and jewellers can come together to honour and celebrate natural diamonds, the ultimate symbol of love, trust, heritage, and emotional connection.

Since the Supporter Page opened, registrations have been received from 21 countries, including strong early engagement from Botswana, bringing the combined reach to more than 1,215,000 followers, with one-third of participants from the diamond trade.

World Diamond Day will already be celebrated on April 8 in South Africa, Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, the United States, Singapore, Japan, China, India, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, the United Kingdom, France, Greece, Belgium, Slovakia, Serbia, Poland, and Switzerland.

I’d like to emphasise that World Diamond Day is about unity, not about promotion. It creates a unique, singular moment in the year when the entire industry speaks with one voice to the world, celebrating the cultural, emotional, and enduring value of natural diamonds.

Therefore, your support of World Diamond Day is essential to its success and a unique opportunity. It is a test of whether the diamond industry can act collectively, for its legacy and for future generations. Because together, our voice is stronger than anything else.

By joining the official World Diamond Day Supporter Page, participants will:
• Gain access to exclusive digital materials to celebrate natural diamonds with their communities;
• Become part of a unified global narrative highlighting the heritage, beauty, and positive impact of natural diamonds;
• Publicly demonstrate their commitment to the natural diamond industry.

World Diamond Day will be celebrated annually on April 8, and registration is open to all stakeholders across the global natural diamond and jewellery industry. Become a supporter at www.worlddiamondday.org and www.wdhb.org
