Pitso – Gabarone, Botswana, April 2011

April 30, 2011
A pitso is a traditional gathering or conference of the leaders of the people, usually held in the village or the chief’s meeting place.
In April 2011, leaders of the diamond mining nations, mining companies, and the diamond manufacturing business community gathered in Gabarone, Botswana, to discuss the diamond supply pipeline. The meeting was aptly named a “pitso” as the industry leaders gathered in the world’s largest diamond-producing nation, Botswana.
IDMA held its 2011 Presidents’ Meeting immediately following the Pitso.
