Introducing the NDC’s Diamond Learning Center

Coinciding with ‘Diamond Month’ this April, the Natural Diamond Council announced the launch of the not-for-profit, free Diamond Learning Center at diamondlearningcenter.org. Its primary objective is to engage jewelry salespeople at scale, equipping them to be better informed and inspired to confidently and clearly distinguish the value propositions of natural diamonds, laboratory-grown diamonds, and diamond simulants to their customers.

Before you read on, keep the following information well in mind and share it during any relevant interaction you have with your own retail jewelry clientele. IDMA fully supports this initiative and, as we agreed during the recent 23rd Presidents’ Meeting in New York last month, is actively pursuing opportunities to help fund NDC initiatives like this.
PLEASE take a few moments to study the below carefully and then pass the information on to the relevant staff members and your downstream clients. It is a fantastic opportunity to create a closer and better relationship with your retail clients and possibly cooperate with them in the implementation of the NDC program. It will be a win-win for both sides!

The Diamond Learning Center serves as the first free one-stop, mobile-friendly destination for new and seasoned diamond jewelry professionals as well as enthusiasts looking to learn or refresh knowledge on the story, facts, and beauty of diamonds. The à la carte, flexible content is designed to be quick, rich and condensed, featuring content from multiple sources including videos, infographics, and self-quizzes, thereby appealing to a variety of learning styles. It is a great complement to technical diamond education currently offered in the marketplace.

Led by Natural Diamond Council, the Diamond Learning Center was born out of an education roundtable that recognized confusion and bias across several retail segments selling diamond jewelry to the subsequent detriment, current and potential, of the industry overall. The invaluable exchange comprised leadership representing the entire value chain, including AGS, De Beers, Diamex Inc, Fischer Diamonds, Gabriel & Co, GIA, IDMA, Jewelers of America, Jewelers Mutual, Premier Gem, and Shane Co.

Key Offerings of the Diamond Learning Center:
• Quick Learning: Learn how to answer 25+ frequently asked diamond questions from industry experts with informative videos ranging from 30 seconds to 3 minutes.
• In-Depth Modules: 20–30-minute engaging and self-paced modules that empower learners to gain a comprehensive understanding of diamond values that extend beyond the 4Cs. Learners receive Certifications of Achievement for each module, which include:
o Differences Between Natural and Laboratory-Grown Diamonds
o The Allure of Diamonds
o The History of Diamonds
o Debunking Diamond Myths with Facts
• Train the Trainer: Unlock workshops and facilitator guides for store or training managers, designed by natural diamond experts.
• Other Learning Sources: A directory of complementary and technical third-party education resources from supporting industry institutions.
• Resources:
