In August 2022, India’s Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) appointed Vipul P Shah as its new chairman to hold office for a two-year term. Mr. Shah replaced outgoing chairman Colin Shah.

Mr. Vipul Shah was also Chairman of GJEPC from 2012 to 2015. Under his leadership at that time, the GJPEC increased exports and successfully strengthened ties with mining companies and diamond trade bodies. Among the many significant milestones, Shah was instrumental in facilitating a unique World Diamond Conference in India that was attended by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

At the Council level, he implemented the policy to have members on a rotation policy so that new people come on board to bring in a fresh perspective and new energy levels.

Vipul Shah is the managing director and chief executive officer of Asian Star Co. Ltd., a large diamond manufacturer, and jewelry distribution company.

In the past, Shah has served as the convener of the GJEPC’s banking, insurance and taxation committee and has also been a member of the administration committee.
